Shamalayan (Sapling Distribution and Plantation)

Promoting environmental awareness, Chandannagar Ispat Sangha undertakes sapling distribution and plantation drives to combat deforestation and enhance green cover. The initiative encourages community participation by distributing saplings of native and fruit-bearing trees to individuals and organizations. Volunteers organize plantation events in schools, parks, and public spaces, educating participants about the importance of preserving biodiversity and fighting climate change. These efforts contribute to reducing carbon footprints, improving air quality, and creating a sustainable future. By involving people of all ages, the organization fosters a sense of responsibility toward nature and emphasizes the importance of environmental conservation.

Keeping the world environment day in mind, generally in the month of July or August every year since 1994,under the active guidance of participation of local people, the club members distribute more than 400 saplings, absolutely free of cost, in different wards of the Corporation . A few saplings are also planted at some localities and are regularly taken care of.  Dignitaries including the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Chandannagar Corporation actively take part in the programme.
